In RESISTANCE is a program of the EastSide Arts Alliance and NAKA Dance Theater that believes in Live Arts as an essential part of our human existence and resistance.
As artists, at this unprecedented time will have an impact our personal relations. How can we respond by finding alternative ways to stay connected? Gathering community together to organize and resist is one of our strengths. Before the pandemic, we noticed a phenomenon of an increasing number of people feeling isolated because of technology, and we were obviously concerned.
As cultural workers, we will adapt our programs to stay connected to our community, but we will never replace our human connection with virtual connections. Now is a good opportunity to look back at and reflect on what we artists and organizations have created. As part of Live Arts in Resistance we’ve created a digital archival platform where you can find program notes, photos and performance videos of all artists we presented during our five years of existence. We will share that during our live stream program. We have set up five online gatherings with some of the LAIR artists who have developed work at EastSide. The gatherings will happen every Monday starting April 20 at 7 pm. We will be streaming from EastSide Arts Alliance's Facebook Page. A link will be posted on our eastsideartsalliance.org website and Instagram. We hope to see you there!
