Thank you Oakland for coming through and helping to create another beautiful celebration of our communities and brilliance.

We gathered to center Black Liberation as a compass toward a unified Third World Community at the 26th annual Malcolm X JazzArts Festival at San Antonio Park- and it was a powerful day.

Twenty six years ago when EastSide Arts Alliance set out to create a Third World Cultural Center to serve and unite the Black, Brown, Asian & Indigenous communities that compose East Oakland and internationally a tradition was spawned. EastSide began as a part of a fusion of cultural collectives of color which organized a steady stream of art programs, town hall forums, youth workshops, and visual exhibitions at the EastSide Cultural Center (which now includes a Third World archive and bookstore).

During the Malcolm X JazzArts Festival at San Antonio Park. we highlight nationally celebrated jazz artists, cultural workers, and local creatives for a full day of live jazz, Hip Hop, Spoken Word art, food, and liberation in the heart of East Oakland.

By investing in community-rooted art, all that participate help EastSide continue to elevate Oakland’s creative ecosystem and honor the revolutionary legacy of Black and Brown organizing. This is Oakland at its finest.
