Ritual by Dohee Lee PURI Arts Ensemble and Asian Refugees United CRE Cohorts 2025
Chilseong Saenamgut, a ritual for sickness, illness and destruction from Jeju Island, the hometown of ARU's Director of Art & Healing Dohee Lee, asks us to confront what's making us the sick and to heal. This ritual is for facing and naming challenges, purging destructive and monstrous spirits (Heomaengyee-허맹이) including white supremacy and patriarchal culture in the diaspora and and our homelands, and inviting vital spirits (Chilseong-칠성신) back to humanity and the land.

This ritual kicks off ARU end of year fundraising campaign to raise at least $100,000 from at least 250 community donors by Lunar New Year 2/17/2026.
