Breathe Liberación: Elizabeth Jimenez Montelongo Poetry Book Launch

Elizabeth will be presenting Breathe Liberación on Saturday, July 12, 2025, 1:30-3:30 pm at the ESAA Bandung Books.

Breathe Liberación is Elizabeth Jiménez Montelongo’s debut collection of poetry. Her work calls up Xicana and Mexican Chicana-rooted foods, traditions, relations and the unique ways of speaking and of being as indispensable to the struggle and movements for social justice liberation.

Elizabeth Jiménez Montelongo is the editor and founder of the literary magazine, La Raízand a dynamic community-based poet, artist and painter. She offers and showcases other poets and writers in print, in poetry gatherings and art shows and in her regular La Raíz on-line poetry gatherings. Elizabeth is a matriarch of our community; she always brings people together in her work and poetry.

In Breathe Liberación, she offers poems that uplift the Xicana/Xicano confluence as indispensable to understand and to act upon the challenges facing our communities.

Elizabeth Jiménez Montelongo's new poemario (poetry collection) brings the reader into a cultural meshwork of Xicana activism, poetry, art and community on the page and in her voice.
